My thoughts on the game(s), Favre and Manning.

Brett Favre fucked up. I'll be the first to admit this. He shouldn't have thrown that ball, but as always, he's trying to be the hero. He isn't blameless, but he sure as fuck shouldn't get the majority of the blame for this game. 20-25% his fault, but the fumbles cost the Vikings more than anything. The fact that they were even in the game that late is incredible and the fact that Favre even had a chance to win the game is even more incredible. No guarantee Longwell even makes that FG but I agree with what everyone has said, a FG try > INT and OT.

Peyton Manning is finally having a good playoffs. I give him full credit for carving up the Jets defense and full credit for winning the game. Partial credit to the Colts defense for pitching a shutout in the second half, but that also has to do with the Jets mostly inept offense. Vikings or Saints go up at the half and they win that game.

I still, however, don't think Manning had the best regular season. You can make an argument for Manning, Favre, Rivers or Brees for MVP, but for Manning to win the award by that many votes was a joke.

Favre had an incredible season. One of the best ever by a QB and definitely the best ever by a QB his age. If he's not in everyones top five, then you're all fooling yourselves. Manning is in that same top five and I will gladly put Manning ahead of Favre as far as individual accomplishments should the Colts win the Super Bowl, but I think Manning has still been pretty inept in the playoffs (Favre has been better, stats wise, but not by much).

A couple of questionable calls in OT that I don't think should have been called, but you play with the cards you're dealt and Minny didn't stop the Saints when they should have.

If Favre comes back next year, Minny should be the Super Bowl favorite out of the NFC while the Colts should still be the AFC favorites.

I'm more pissed that I lost $4,392.16 today than anything.
